This was then followed by the Mughal Sheraton at Agra in 1976 and the Maurya Sheraton at Delhi in 1977. Since then, the ITC-Welcomgroup brand has been synonymous with Indian hospitality. In 1979, ITC–Welcomgroup entered into a marketing and franchise agreement with Sheraton Hotels and Resorts worldwide, a time tested business relationship spanning over two decades.
